WNC Teen Institute trains, mobilizes and empowers youth to prevent substance abuse and destructive behaviors in themselves and their peers. The program emphasizes peer leadership and positive life skills development, involving participants in a strategic planning process. We provide follow up and targeted additional training throughout the year to help ensure success and bring those plans to fruition. Youth of middle and high school age volunteer to get involved and form a team within their community group or school. The adult advisor contacts Prevention Services and registers the team.
Participants are involved in community action planning and facilitating small groups and team meetings. Youth also have opportunities to attend training workshops, seminars, and conferences.

WNC Teen Institute (WNCTI) hosts training events as a part of our program. We ensure an environment not only to assist participants in being more resilient themselves, but also provide the knowledge to apply positive peer pressure and peer leadership to impact others in their community.
